Easter Egg Hunt.

  • April 6, 9:30 am. Easter Egg hunt for children in courtyard at Lacombe Nursing Home. Easter baskets to be delivered by children for Note:  If your child is participating in Easter Egg Hunt they will need to bring their basket along with 12 plastic eggs filled with candy (this will be for the children).  Please feel free to share this information with any families/friends that might want to join us.  We have partnered with Jill McGuire and her team.  They are preparing baskets for resident on April 4, 2012.  She will have open house from 9:00am12:00pm to prepare around 90 baskets. Immediate needs for a family of six

  • There is a family of six that recently lost everything in a house fire. The mother had emergency surgery  and was out of work for eight weeks when the fire happened. Serve a single mom.

  • There are single moms who need help with specific needs: simple home repairs, lawn care, painting, haul away debris, and clean gutters.

Serve local schools.

  • Clean up, paint, landscape, etc.
  • Adopt a local school and donate school supplies for the new school year (for students & teachers).

Serve a local community organization.

  • A local community organization is any organization that serves for the betterment of our community through serving people who are in need. (i.e. food banks, boys & girls homes, shelters, animal shelters, etc.).
  • Clean up, paint, landscape, etc.
  • Bring lunch/snacks to the staff.
  • Serve the needs of the organization.

Serve military families.

  • Provide a meal for the family.
  • Give a gift card to a restaurant.
  • Assist with home and/or car repairs.
  • Offer to clean their home.
  • Bless them – be creative!

Serve the elderly.

  • Spend time with them.
  • Assist with home and/or car repairs.
  • Bring them to a doctor’s appointment.
  • Take them shopping or shop for them.
  • Provide a meal.

Serve at a nursing home or hospice center.

  • Visit the residents.
  • Play games with them.
  • Read to them.
  • Sing with them.
  • Do an arts & crafts project with them.
  • Bring your children to visit.
  • Bless the staff.
  • Serve the needs of the center.

Serve a local government agency.

  • Contact your local government officials/agencies and offer to serve them in any way that you can.

Serve at a local community event.

  • Work at the event.
  • Help clean up after the event.
  • Provide lunch, drinks, or snacks for the volunteers and/or staff.

Serve a local childcare center.

  • Treat the staff to lunch.
  • Bring a specialty coffee drink.
  • Clean up the playground, paint, landscape, etc.
  • Donate supplies/toys.

Serve local public servants (police officers, fire fighters, etc.).

  • Bring lunch, snacks, desserts, specialty coffee drinks, etc.
  • Write letters of appreciation.
  • Offer to clean up their facilities.

Serve a local business.

  • Bring lunch, snacks, desserts, specialty coffee drinks, etc.
  • Clean up, paint, landscape, etc.
  • Offer to serve in any way needed.

Serve a local hospital.

  • Serve a late-night coffee and snack run to the emergency room staff.
  • Visit the patients and bring flowers/toys to them.
  • Bring lunch, snacks, desserts, etc. to bless the staff.

Clean local parks and public property.

  • Paint.
  • Landscape.
  • Pick up trash in the parks and along the streets.

Plan a local Adopt-a-Block.

  • Free neighborhood car wash.
  • Provide lawn care.
  • Deliver snacks or meals to people in your neighborhood.
  • Plan a neighborhood event.
  • Serve the people of your neighborhood in any possible way.

Volunteer with Habitat for Humanity.

  • Contact the local Habitat for Humanity and find out which serving opportunities are available.

Bless your neighborhood workers (garbage workers, mail carriers, lawn care workers, etc.)

  • Provide snacks and drinks.
  • Write letters/cards of appreciation.

Bless construction workers.

  • Provide drinks, snacks, or a meal while on their work site.
  • Bring a large carafe of coffee and snacks early one morning.

Bless the people at a laundromat.

  • Bring quarters, detergent, dryer sheets, and snacks/drinks to a laundromat. Stay and visit with people.
  • while they are doing their laundry.

Pay for someone’s meal at a restaurant as a group.

  • Go out to eat as a small group and pay for the meal(s) at another table(s).
  • 20. Random acts of kindness.
  • Find any way possible to share God’s love by serving people.

Cook meals for those in need.

  • Partner with Cooking for Christ, a ministry of Church of the King that provides meals that can be frozen, stored, and delivered at a later date.
